The Eyyeeee

Well, I took our Arwen to the clinic with me today. She had to have a check-up done by our eye specialist.

Arwen1Short Version? As a kitten she caught Feline Influenza, and that is accompanied by severe eye-infections at times. One of her eyes was so swollen by the infection, it took forever to heal, which caused her 'third' eyelid to grow shut in an attempt to protect the eye.
(for the long version, you will have to be patient and wait for Arwen's story in a couple of weeks)

Our eye specialist was so sweet as to treat her disease and also perform the surgery Arwen needed to regain the use of that third eyelid. Now, after two weeks of treating her with cortisones in order to prevent it from growing shut again, it was time to see if the surgery had worked.

The Verdict? The operation had been successfull for 90 percent. Arwen still has some regrowth of tissue in the upper corner of her eye, but she almost has full use of her lens again. We have decided, since she is absolutely not bothered by it, that we will not put her through anymore hassle.

Arwen: The Cute and Fluffy One

Arwen2
Arwen is…just plain adorable. Being the youngest in a colony of five cats has taught her one thing: diplomacy and cuteness will get you just about anything.

Arwen8Arwen is semi-longhaired, black with white chin and neck, white toes on the front paws and long white stockings on the back paws. Her tail is this big plume with black and white mixed in together. She also has a damaged eye which has been operated, and is healing. When she was younger she had a serious eye-infection that urged Mother Nature to put her third eyelid over her eye to protect it. Unfortunately, it grew stuck that way, so the doctor at the animal clinic where I work had to open the eye up again. Now a beautiful green-yellow eye is peeking through.
