Wow, it has been a while. Unfortunately it has been so busy, that I ended up not having the energy to write. I've had my own business to run, a house to look for, problems to solve and I've been ill. But back to the kittens. So what is the status these days?
Well, we still have 6 kitties running around. Fey has grown up to be a gorgeous kitty, as I knew she would. She still hasn't fully gotten accustomed to human company though. She is bigger and bolder these days, climbing up window sills and trying to steal Arwen's food on a daily basis. But walk into a room, stare too long at her, or startle her, and she is somewhere under a table all of a sudden. I have been told that this can take very long though, and will never fully fade. Still, I remain hopeful :)
Furthermore all kittens have had their annual check up and Falk finally received his chip. He is officially part of the family these days. Only our Fey doesn't have one yet. Everyone got a clear bill of health, much to my relief. Fey and Falk are so cute these days, they hog the bed as no other couple could and like like they've been married for years *grin*
Trinity is more open and cuddly these days, up to the point where it becomes a problem. Daily, me and my boyfriend are mobbed by no less than four kittens. Prinny is always the first to come over and claim part of the couch, and of course then Lulu feels she needs to be there too. As if that aint bad enough, our Arwen and Trini also feel like the couch is the place to be, especially when we are in it. I've told my boyfriend repeatedly that we need an extra couch and we are actually saving up for one coz this is getting out of hand *LOL*

The poor thing didn't have it easy. It stormed on Friday here, and figures that that was the day I picked to bring him in. While on the way, we got hailed on, rained on, blown away, and pretty much frozen to death. Fun.
When I went back to pick him up, two of my busses didn't show up, which made me half an hour late, which caused me to have to wait again since I had ruined their scedule. I finally got the kitten, and the explanation.
Turns out it has healed fine. His bones have mended, and although his hips are still deformed, he seems to manage just fine. The part where they removed some bone has some slight arthrosis on it, but that was unavoidable and expected after the surgery. The good part is that the artrosis is situated somewhere where it cannot do much damage, namely in tissue. If it were to be grinding against another bone, it would cause pain, much like what happens when you get older.
Now, the arthrosis is expected to get worse with age, as all arthrosis does, but it is easily combatted. The owners can choose to give him a special joint diet for cats against the artrosis from the moment he turns 1. Or, they can choose not to do so and see how it goes. The arthrosis is bound to get worse, but because it is protected by tissue, the chances of it causing pain are minor. In the worst case they could block maybe a nerve, which they would notice in the behavior of Shadow and it can be treated. The diet can also be started only after he has problems with it, as it also works as a cure. I've informed the new owners about this, and since shadow is only 7 months, they still have some time to decide what they'll do.
Well, I just had a message from my friends on how our boy is doing and he is apparently taking over their house *grin*. He is racing around the house apparently one half of the time and the other he apparently lies purring in a little tent they bought him. Trust me, our boy is being pampered. The new owners already expressed their astonishment at how energetic he can be to which my answer was: well duuuuhhh, he is a kitten afterall and he just got a new playground...what did you expect?
All in all though they are apparently having a lot of fun with him, so things are definitely looking good.
And, Shadow even has a mission in life now. My friends have a clock that hangs high on a wall, and at every hour instead of a traditional bell-sound, you get to hear a 'Meeeeeehhh'-sound, and a sheep apppears from the clock. This sheep is apparently Shadow's new Nemesis and has him fascinated completely. I already warned him that that clock cannot hang high enough and that they should introduce the sheep to Shadow if they want to avoid having him jump at the clock when he gets bigger and more confident in his jumping abilities. I am sure we haven't heard the last of this.
No doubt, I will get more of these messages and soon I will have to babysit him for a weekend when his new owners go out to the countryside for the weekend, so to be continued, I am sure ;)
Well, that was that. Shadow has gone to his new home. And what a luxury life he will have *grin*. His new basket is twice the size he had at my place, he has a designer foodbowl, a brand new litter tray, a ton of toys and his own room.
The new owners are friends of mine. The guy has wanted a kitten for a long time now but the girl wasn't sure. They actually considered adopting our Arwen a year ago, but because of the practical mess kittens bring with them, the girl decided not to adopt a kitten just yet. But, every time she was here and I had a new lost soul, she was endeared, and when she saw her guy at one point happily playing with Shadow when he was here, she wanted to surprise him. They have been together for 4 years this month and she figured it would be a perfect gift. So, she gave me a call after learning that Shadow needed a home and that it would not be easy to find one because of his hipproblem.
I was over the moon of course, since this meant I would still have a part in his life. And so the hush-hush situation began. Hence also the not-blogging on the fact that he had found a good home. Last week my friends met here, and I played my part, and so did she. She told her boyfriend very adamantly no on the whole kitten-thing. So much even ,that he came to talk to me about how he would love to adopt Shadow but his girlfriend wasn't up for it. I told him not to worry, since Shadow had already found a great home and was moving there soon. I also comforted him with the thought that my house, knowing my life and the way it flows, would always have some kitten that needed a new home, in case his girlfriend had a change of heart. He was so cute, and so not aware of what was going on :)))
