Team Work

Peeing problems

A couple of weeks ago they started again. Suddenly Lulu was bored and starting irritating everyone in sight, including our favorite little diva, Prinny. She of course replied in her favorite way, by peeing on the couch at first and afterwards on the bed. An entire year this had been no issue, and suddenly it was back *sigh*

So, I broke out the toys, and I washed, and washed and washed. I got Lulu some more feathers and watched her go bonkers over them the entire day and most of the rest of the week. Arwen and Trini were happy to join in.

Lulu calmed down, but the stress was still a bit too high. I'd gotten lazy on cleaning the littertrays, and Prinny was starting to pee elsewhere whenever I didn't clean them in time to her liking, something she'd been pretty tolerant about before. Though Lulu was leaving her alone again, you could tell the tension was still there. Add to that that we had a party and moved all the furniture around, bought a bunch of new furniture..well, you get the idea.

I brought home some boxes for them to play with and trew some catnip parties, and for now, it is going all well again, but I still am not allowed to be as lazy on the littertrays as I used to be. But for now..the peace has been restored to the house. Fingers crossed now that it will last :)

Kittens everywhere!

These days the cats have banded together to make us as nuts as possible. They are very cute though :) The moment I even think of sitting down in the couch there are three cats on top of me. Now this has been the case for a while, but apparently they decided to expand this act and include the bed. Yesterday I went to bed and had a Falkie, Fey and Arwen join me. Fey Fey was actually very cute. She wanted to be petted but wasn't sure and sniffed my face at least four times. She kept coming back though, so I feel like we are finally advancing somewhat with her.

This morning, the same thing happened. I had a Trini mreowing at me, a Falkie chirping, and even a Lulu checking up on us. When I went to take a shower, I was followed by an Arwen. My boyfried is going completely mad with the cats being everywhere everytime I'm home. Apparently, he doesn't hear a peep or is even able to spot them when I aint around.

We also tried to brush them a bit a couple of days ago since they are really losing furr now that spring is coming and especially Lulu is one huge fuzzball right now. I'd expected Arwen to be the worst case but she actually isn't as bad as Lulu and Trini. They enjoyed their brushing though, a definite sign it was necessary *grin*

Kitty Litter Game

Today we had a house of supercharged kittens. Everyone was running around like mad, meowing, pawing, hissing, hopping etc. Now that, we are used to. However, they invented a new game which makes 'mommy' very anxious.

You see, you take a kitty, put it in the big litter tray (which has a lid on it) in the living room, and corner it with two or three other cats. It's hilarious, since the cat in the litter tray has to get passed the two or three other ones. So why is 'mommy' anxious? Well, last time this game was going on, it ended with Prinny peeing all over my couch and bed!

Luckily, Arwen is usually less easily stressed and she is more into games. Falkie took it a bit far, so I shoed him off and cuddled the Arwen a bit to relax her somewhat. I'm just hoping this does not become a habbit, coz otherwise I'm not going to sleep very soundly from now on...

Catnip Party!

My two biggest fluffballs are sooo cute. Yesterday, I sprayed some catnip on the carpet. At first there was a stand off between all six of them to get to the spot, and of all kittens, Trini took it over. After she was done though, Fey Fey was next. I couldn't believe it.

Turns out she was finally relaxed enough to enjoy a little catnip. Before yesterday I didn't even know she was sensitive to catnip (it's a genetic thing, some cats do not react to it). But she spent about 25 minutes rolling around, stretching, cuddling and being all kinds of crazy. At this point though, Arwen decides that it is her turn. And Fey was not agreeing. They started rolling around to get the most out of the catnip while pushing each other away. So I'm looking at this stripey white-black gigantic longhaired ball of furr rolling like crazy over my carpet. I am sooo bummed I didn't have my camera! Utterly adorable ;)

Hyperactive Bunch of Horrors

Alright, OK, so my boyfriend leaves and I get six hyper kittens to deal with. I suspect he has been secretly feeding them coffee right before he left or something. Yesterday evening, when I was still awake, they were nicely snoozing and cuddling up with me. Then, I go to bed and the party gets started. Racing around, mreowing, hissing, you name it, you got it. After an hour, I finally fall asleep only to wake up to more hissing, screaming, racing and purring. I got purred, licked, stood on, raced over and mreowed at, all in an hours time. Here I thought they would calm down a bit with him gone, since they have more room to snooze with me in the bed, and they do do that..but only after all of the racing and mreowing and purring etc etc. When you think you finally catch a break, they suddenly are lying next to you, on top of you, between your legs and right on the spot where you wanna stretch your leg. Oh, I am feeling loved..but also a bit cramped!

Let's just hope they plan on taking a break of partying hard tonight, so I can get some shut-eye, or someone is going to be cranky tomorrow *grin*

Time flies

Wow, it has been a while. Unfortunately it has been so busy, that I ended up not having the energy to write. I've had my own business to run, a house to look for, problems to solve and I've been ill. But back to the kittens. So what is the status these days?

Well, we still have 6 kitties running around. Fey has grown up to be a gorgeous kitty, as I knew she would. She still hasn't fully gotten accustomed to human company though. She is bigger and bolder these days, climbing up window sills and trying to steal Arwen's food on a daily basis. But walk into a room, stare too long at her, or startle her, and she is somewhere under a table all of a sudden. I have been told that this can take very long though, and will never fully fade. Still, I remain hopeful :)

Furthermore all kittens have had their annual check up and Falk finally received his chip. He is officially part of the family these days. Only our Fey doesn't have one yet. Everyone got a clear bill of health, much to my relief. Fey and Falk are so cute these days, they hog the bed as no other couple could and like like they've been married for years *grin*

Trinity is more open and cuddly these days, up to the point where it becomes a problem. Daily, me and my boyfriend are mobbed by no less than four kittens. Prinny is always the first to come over and claim part of the couch, and of course then Lulu feels she needs to be there too. As if that aint bad enough, our Arwen and Trini also feel like the couch is the place to be, especially when we are in it. I've told my boyfriend repeatedly that we need an extra couch and we are actually saving up for one coz this is getting out of hand *LOL*

Witching Hour

Well, have you ever heard of witching hour? Did you know that cats go bonkers at that time as well? I know, from now on. It is the hour between midnight and one, when all the crazy ghosts wake up, witches do their invocations, and cats go completely off the deep end.

Yesterday, I was stretching with most of my kittens on the floor, on our carpet, when suddenly a Faith appears. Now, that on its own is common by now, but this time she wandered around the room. You see, the food bowl is right next to the kitchen, so she can just stay in the kitchen almost without having to go into the living, which was what she has done so far. The waterbowl is pretty much the same deal.

She decided to check out all the kitties in the sleeping spots, and check out all the hide-outs under tables and stuff. Meanwhile, I grabbed the opportunity to start a game. Not long after, I had six very intrigued kittens trying to follow the fishing toy I was making go balistic, including a Fey-Fey. Exactly 7 minutes before the clock said it was 1 am, Fey disappeared again and the game was finished. Cats are such bizarre kittens.

Of course, the worst part is that cats go bonkers twice a day, once on Witching Hour and once around 6 am. And tonight...they did it again. Falkie joined us in the bed, as did Fey. They again stole my pillow and part of the matras, walked all over us and pretty much purred us awake. My boyfriend went nuts. It was like two hours before we were going to get up, and we were completely awake, with purring kittens using us as a trampoline and as pillows.

It is seriously time to teach Fey that there are rules in this house. Yes, you may join us in the bed ,but at least be subtle about it. Yes, you may drink water, but no, you may not drink it out of my glass standing next to the bed. Yes, you may sit on the tables in the bedroom, but no, you cannot do that on the tables in the living as food gets served there.

The World has gone to Hell

Something fishy is going on. Lulu is cuddling me to death, which, when I tried to do that with her, was not appreciated! She is crawling into my arms, purrring all over the place and even fighting with Prinny over a spot!

A couple of days ago, I was 'kittened' as it is known in this house (aka covered in cat)by both Lulu and Prinny. Lulu squished herself between my head and the Prinny (lying both on my chest while I was lying in the couch), pissing of Prinny whoes personal space was being invaded. Not that Lulu cared. As the evening proceeded, she managed to get her ass lying against my neck and her head was resting against the Prinny's body. Talk about a change of heart!

Lulu and Prin have always been rivals for first position in my cat colony and they are usually incapable of entering each others comfort zone without there being some sort of disgruntled vocalization or gesture.

I have no clue what is going on, but I cuddle and reassure my Lulu whenever she needs it..I'm sure it is a phase that will pass.

In other news, since I was gone for the weekend and they got fed canned food only, they now all have diarrhea. Especially our Prinny, who wasnt feeling too good as it was, is taking it hard. So I gave them some 'good bacteria' to help restore the peace and order in their bowls yesterday. Hope she feels better today. She looks a bit...fragile right now. She does tiptoe around and doesn't seem sick , but she is not showing off in her usual confident way. I'm keeping a close eye on her, considering what was going on last week.

Poor kitties

Oh my god. I just noticed that my kitties were parched...My boyfriend left on Friday and he always fills the water fountain. Usually it makes a loooot of noise when it is empty, and then he and I when he aint here notice that they need more water. But because of my busy schedule and the fact that he hasn't been gone in a really long time so I aint used to it anymore, I forgot. The poor kitties have been self-servicing themselves for about 2 and a half days. Arwen has always been our water-kitty, meaning that she loves playing in the tub after we've taken a shower, but I already thought she was a bit more into it the last couple of days. It wasn't, however, until Falkie tried to steal some water from a glass on the coffee table right in front of me (while he knows that table is off limits, especially when I am in the room), that it sunk in.

I immediately refilled their fountain and 3 kittens were waiting their turn. It is the first time I am this negligent. I hope it will never happen again. Luckily, I am starting to catch up with the work my new business is giving me, so I should be more aware of the world again.

PS Two kittens still aren't interested in the water...Lulu and Prinny. The reason? I have a sneeking suspicion that they have been using their special skill: drinking out of the toilet :P

Urgh, what a week

Well, this was a week from hell. I was a bit overwhelmed this week and the previous ones, and that kinda made it hard to keep track of the site.

So what have I been up to that has kept me away from you? Oh...your usual: setting up my own business, going mad with all the details that go into that, taking care of our beloved Shadow (yes, he is back!), and our Merry and Pippin (the brothers of Arwen, remember?), working at the clinic, in order to be able to pay for my daytime school to learn more about our furry friends, as well as actually going to class. So please forgive me ;)

First things first. Our little Shadow needed a babysit this weekend and I was it. Boy, has he grown! You can barely see that he ever limped, he races around like he owns the place, feels perfectly fine there and was very cuddly. And it is likely he will stay an only child since he is so independent. He loves playing with someone, be it cat or human (not sure about dog yet), but he is perfectly fine playing on his own if you aint up for it. He'll invite you, but if you give up, he'll go thumbling into his little sleeping tent (that thing isn't weighed down so it wanders through the entire room with him in it of course), or racing through to the house while playing football with his toys.

His owners told me he is always happy to see them, but the greeting takes a split second and then he'll take off again like a lightningbolt. So for now, he is way too busy enjoying life to be bored or lonely. Those people are lucky to have such a self-reliant kitty :)
