Three Musketeers

Merry2

Nostalgia

I am taking care of nine cats this weekend. How come? Well, friends of mine are away for the weekend and they have four cats, two of which they got through me (the brothers of Arwen). The first two they got at a pet store and I was there with them when they did :)

Merry&Pippin1I do visit them occasionally but still. It is awesome to see how my former tiny kittens grew up to be such 'strapping lads' as my grandfather would say. However, they are clearly male, and yesterday, when I went over there, I spent most of my time cleaning up their faces and brushing filt from Merry's coat.

Merry&pippin3You see, they still get canned food, which they dive in head first. And they still have some remnants of the Feline Influenza which causes their eyes to tear a lot sometimes. The combo made me reach for the kitchen towl immediately, just like in the old days when they were five weeks old *grin*

Merry&Pippin2They are so sweet though, and easy-going (a side effect of being male and hand-reared ;)). It is also amazing to see which personality has come out of those little fluffbunnies. It was already somewhat clear when they were younger, but it is still surprising to see which traits have been intensived, and some childhood quirks have completely vanished.

Merry&Pippin4I know, I sound like a proud mother, but that is what I was to them, essentially. When I got them, they were dirty, starved, sick little rats of which the vet wasn't even sure they would make it. And look at them now *smiles*
