On this site you will find some of the answers to the problems that so many cat owners go crazy over, as well as my own experiences with my crazy bunch of furballs
Hope you have fun!
Ahh, the joys of kitty life. Yesterday I bought some baskets, as well as some other stuff to use around the house. I specifically left it out on the floor, so they could completely examine it. Today, since they had the entire night to get used to the new stuff, I start using to baskets, to see where they would be best suited to get rid of some junk.
And what do I find? While I'm off with one basket, filling it with dvds, there are kittens sneeking behind my back, to jump into the baskets. You see, yesterday, they were still all stacked in each other, with a bucket in the middle one. Now, they could SIT in the things...fancy that.
Grin, you've gotto realize though, as a proud owner, that if all that is going wrong in your kitty colony, is the stealing of boxes, then you should kiss both your hands, and hope it stays that way. I mean, who would've thought a year ago, that I would at some point or another, have a harmonious household, with nothing worth mentionning or any crazy stories to tell at some point or another. Heck, if I'd have known, I probably would not have started a blog about my little angels.
Now, I aint naïve, and I am just counting the days, till this all goes to hell once more. For now...I will just enjoy it ;)
Ahhh time for another breed to be unveiled. This time we take a good look at the Himalayan Cat. This beautiful cross of Persian and Siamese cats makes the best of both breeds strengths. And the combination of these well known breeds also makes for an interesting appearance ;)
First of all I would like to appologize for the delay in blogging. It does not help when your keyboard is refusing to use certain letters at certain moments in time, and you have no clue when that will be. Luckily my darling boyfriend has provided me with an external keyboard, however, the catch is not losing the signal thingy...which of course took place.
Last Thursday was a day from hell. I had cleaned for most of the day on Wednesday, and had not gotten everything done, which caused me to go to bed at half past twelve pm. I was to leave on weekend on Friday, and my boyfriend would be in Norway for two weeks. Hence, a good friend of mine, who has four cats herself, would take care of my babies that weeked. The place was a mess though and this was a good excuse to give it a complete overhaul.
However, I was to get up at six am on Thursday. My ex-collegue was on holiday and the clinic had asked me to do her morning shift. My ex-collegue had also requested to take care of her four cats and dog for a day while she was at the coast with her husband. Of course, I had no objection. Clearly though, with that little sleep and that much cleaning before that, my mood was nowhere near good. Especially if they make me get up that early. But I dragged myself throug my shift, went to the city to pick up some stuff for the weekend and have lunch. This put me behind on schedule, but it was still doable.
I got home, to start packing, since I was to stay the night at the house of my collegue and I wouldn't have the time to pack before taking the train on Friday, when I noticed Arwen hopping my way, ON THREE LEGS. At that time I was such an emotional wreck (I do not digest lack of sleep very well), I burst out in tears. I was already stressed to get everything done, and the fastest I could get Arwen to the clinic was in two hours, when the next consultation hour started.
Ok, so how much can you talk about a box? Well, when you have five cats, a lot! Me and my boyfriend just witnessed a half an hour of cat action.
Imagine, all is well in our cat casa. There's a Lulu snoozing in the sun, a Trini under the coffee table, a Prinny in the basket and an Arwen stretched out on the carpet. Then, I add new food to the Arwen's bowl and the fun begins:
Arwen eats and returns down on the carpet to inspect the carton in front of the box and the box itself. Prinny gets up and tries in all ways possible to get to the Arwen's food without us knowing about it. She tries going up right, left and straight up by climbing the tree itself. Meanwhile there's an Arwen in the box, who, after cuddling and pawing the piece of carton in front, decided to start scratching the back of the box for God knows only what reason. Enter the Falcor:
He wanders in from the kitchen, hears the scratcing in the box and his hunting instincts are triggered. He checks the box, to find an Arwen pawing the back of the box. Confused, he walks around the box to the place Arwen is scratching, only to find no reason for it. He walks around, and tries to point out the peep holes in the box to Arwen, so they can play. She keeps scratching. Again, he circles the box, to then stop and listen to the sound very intently when she scratches, but still does not get it( neither do we btw). He finally is able to attract her attention by attacking her through one of the peepholes and the cat game begins.
I brought home a carton box yesterday, proceeded to put it on to the floor on its side so they could crawl in and all of a sudden, me being home wasn't that important anymore. Go figure.
The carton box is actually meant to collect old paper in, but I figured I might as well let them enjoy it for a couple of days. They'll eventually lose interest, I know from experience. But right now..the box is a multifunctional toy. From a cats perspective, this is the equivalent of a castle: you can sit in it, on it, behind it, in front of it, you name it. Now add an extra kitten in the equation, plus the fact that the box has peeping holes, and bingo, we are in business!
Imagine a box, with flaps on the side, which you can shelter behind while you stalk the kitty inside the box, with a peeping hole right there at your service. Suddenly this kitty inside puts its paw suprisingly fast through that hole...Man, the excitement! Now push the repeat button but with an extra kitty on the other side and another one in front of the box or on top to distract the kitty in the box.
Of course, if you are lucky to be the only occupant of the box at that time, you can snooze in it, roll around in it, scratch it vigorously to attract other cats to join in, and pretty much go completely bonkers in the box with an extra toy. The possibilities are endless!
And all our humans have to do is provide the box. How easy is that ;)
In my search for cat jokes, I came across some adorable cat quotes from some very interesting people, so I decided to make a collection of these quotes as well as increase the amount of jokes on the site. Hope you like it.
It has been a while that the Fun section got another overall. I admit I've been neglecting that section a bit, but no more! I got some more very cute cat jokes in 'Cat Humor', especially picked for you. There are some cute but also very intriguing thoughts wrapped in a joke-format to be found there, so enjoy ;)
Next in our search for beautiful cat breeds is the Burmese. A very close cousin of the Siamese, they are as beautiful as their cousins as they are affectionate, people-oriented and vocal (well,ok, just a little bit less vocal). These cats are definitely worth checking out, with their silky skin and adorable tricks, trust me ;)
Well, the heat is here and so are the flies and other bugs. This week, since it was so hot here, we have been periodically opening the windows. And a ton of flies stormed in. Not a problem though, when you have five cats. I would almost say that it was just what the doctor ordered.
Imagine, five bored indoor cats, 24/7 between four walls waking up from their winter naps. Now enter five flies going mad in our house. The hunt is on... Crazy jumps through the air and cats flying by were part of our tv channel options this week. Picture four cats on a window sill all trying to catch the same damned bug, with the fifth one not being up there because there simply aint enough room. Now this is good tv, trust me.
So for now, we don't need to keep our kitties occupied anymore. Anytime they get annoying we just open the window and let them and the flies , fly.... At the end of it all there will be a golden medal for the best flying cat *grin*
Alright, I admit, it has been a while since you've had a new breed so here we go. Let's take a look at the Siamese Cat. It took me a while, because there is a lot of stuff out there on these cats, and rightfully so.
These creatures are incredibly beautiful, and very creative in amongst others, their survival-strategy (you'll see ;))
They are also one of the best known breeds and one of the, as I call it, 'founding' breeds. A lot of other breeds have been created by breeding with the Siamese, which should give you some clue of what kind of special breed this is. So dig in!
