On this site you will find some of the answers to the problems that so many cat owners go crazy over, as well as my own experiences with my crazy bunch of furballs
Hope you have fun!A couple of weeks ago they started again. Suddenly Lulu was bored and starting irritating everyone in sight, including our favorite little diva, Prinny. She of course replied in her favorite way, by peeing on the couch at first and afterwards on the bed. An entire year this had been no issue, and suddenly it was back *sigh*
So, I broke out the toys, and I washed, and washed and washed. I got Lulu some more feathers and watched her go bonkers over them the entire day and most of the rest of the week. Arwen and Trini were happy to join in.
Lulu calmed down, but the stress was still a bit too high. I'd gotten lazy on cleaning the littertrays, and Prinny was starting to pee elsewhere whenever I didn't clean them in time to her liking, something she'd been pretty tolerant about before. Though Lulu was leaving her alone again, you could tell the tension was still there. Add to that that we had a party and moved all the furniture around, bought a bunch of new furniture..well, you get the idea.
I brought home some boxes for them to play with and trew some catnip parties, and for now, it is going all well again, but I still am not allowed to be as lazy on the littertrays as I used to be. But for now..the peace has been restored to the house. Fingers crossed now that it will last :)
Well, it's been rough couple of months, but we're back :P
Sooo much has happened. The story I wanna tell today though, is the one of Fey Fey.
A couple of months ago, all was quiet in the house, when suddenly the Fey decides it is time to grow up. In the middle of the quiet night, I'm lying in my bed when this kitten next to me goes "mreoooww", just once. I remember thinking:" That's odd, Fey doesn't usually use verbal signals." And all went quiet again. The next morning though, I get up to feed the colony when Fey mreows at me loudly..and again....and again. Not half an hour later, she has made her point. Mreow pretty much equaled "get me a hot young stud, now!" During the day, she gets worse. I called the clinic which were luckily able to get me an appointment in two days. In the evening, she starts rolling around on the carpet like a mad kitten. It was like having Lulu and Prinny in heat all at the same time! Luckily, she went from mreowing to prrring and rolling by the evening, so we could go to bed in a relatively quiet house.
That night, I hear the Fey mrrrooing and I ignore it. At some point though, I start hearing this sound going 'Mrr mrrr mrr.' I wake up, go look at her. And what I see at that point was just...surreal. I'm looking at this Fey, all horny and twirly on the floor, and a Falkie looking at her very confused. He tries to lick her face, she mrrrs, he tries to play with her, she mrrss some more at him. Finally, he had decided to get on top of her, since that's what she wanted, bite her neck...but then he kinda got confused as to what to do next. I'm standing there in disbelief, looking at a neutered male cat which had never shown any interest in Lulu when she went all horny and mad, when suddenly a thought occurs to me: "Mmm, I guess men of all species need to be taught how to do this properly." It didn't help that I'd seen another species, nl horses, at it a week before, and that the stallion had been an inexperienced one as well.
These days the cats have banded together to make us as nuts as possible. They are very cute though :) The moment I even think of sitting down in the couch there are three cats on top of me. Now this has been the case for a while, but apparently they decided to expand this act and include the bed. Yesterday I went to bed and had a Falkie, Fey and Arwen join me. Fey Fey was actually very cute. She wanted to be petted but wasn't sure and sniffed my face at least four times. She kept coming back though, so I feel like we are finally advancing somewhat with her.
This morning, the same thing happened. I had a Trini mreowing at me, a Falkie chirping, and even a Lulu checking up on us. When I went to take a shower, I was followed by an Arwen. My boyfried is going completely mad with the cats being everywhere everytime I'm home. Apparently, he doesn't hear a peep or is even able to spot them when I aint around.
We also tried to brush them a bit a couple of days ago since they are really losing furr now that spring is coming and especially Lulu is one huge fuzzball right now. I'd expected Arwen to be the worst case but she actually isn't as bad as Lulu and Trini. They enjoyed their brushing though, a definite sign it was necessary *grin*
Today we had a house of supercharged kittens. Everyone was running around like mad, meowing, pawing, hissing, hopping etc. Now that, we are used to. However, they invented a new game which makes 'mommy' very anxious.
You see, you take a kitty, put it in the big litter tray (which has a lid on it) in the living room, and corner it with two or three other cats. It's hilarious, since the cat in the litter tray has to get passed the two or three other ones. So why is 'mommy' anxious? Well, last time this game was going on, it ended with Prinny peeing all over my couch and bed!
Luckily, Arwen is usually less easily stressed and she is more into games. Falkie took it a bit far, so I shoed him off and cuddled the Arwen a bit to relax her somewhat. I'm just hoping this does not become a habbit, coz otherwise I'm not going to sleep very soundly from now on...
Wow, that was amazing. Yesterday, I got up rather early and by the afternoon, after I had some lunch, I was sooooo tired. Meanwhile, my cute little black 'n white kitten crawled into the couch with me and got comfy with me. It was divine. Here I was, stretched out on the couch, with a blanky over me, and on my chest, purring her little head off was a very much relaxed, stretched out kitten, all cuddly and happy to be under the blanky with me. She was actually fully stretched out and using my cheek as a pillow. We had a blissful two hour cat nap and woke up all revived and tingly in every limb (such a relaxing feeling *mmMMmm*)
After that, Arwen jumped out of the couch, stretched and took some time to eat and socialize with the rest of the colony. I took care of some other stuff myself, and once I got back in the couch, she rejoined me and we spent a lovely evening cuddling in front of the TV. A true mother-kitten day ;)
My two biggest fluffballs are sooo cute. Yesterday, I sprayed some catnip on the carpet. At first there was a stand off between all six of them to get to the spot, and of all kittens, Trini took it over. After she was done though, Fey Fey was next. I couldn't believe it.
Turns out she was finally relaxed enough to enjoy a little catnip. Before yesterday I didn't even know she was sensitive to catnip (it's a genetic thing, some cats do not react to it). But she spent about 25 minutes rolling around, stretching, cuddling and being all kinds of crazy. At this point though, Arwen decides that it is her turn. And Fey was not agreeing. They started rolling around to get the most out of the catnip while pushing each other away. So I'm looking at this stripey white-black gigantic longhaired ball of furr rolling like crazy over my carpet. I am sooo bummed I didn't have my camera! Utterly adorable ;)
Alright, OK, so my boyfriend leaves and I get six hyper kittens to deal with. I suspect he has been secretly feeding them coffee right before he left or something. Yesterday evening, when I was still awake, they were nicely snoozing and cuddling up with me. Then, I go to bed and the party gets started. Racing around, mreowing, hissing, you name it, you got it. After an hour, I finally fall asleep only to wake up to more hissing, screaming, racing and purring. I got purred, licked, stood on, raced over and mreowed at, all in an hours time. Here I thought they would calm down a bit with him gone, since they have more room to snooze with me in the bed, and they do do that..but only after all of the racing and mreowing and purring etc etc. When you think you finally catch a break, they suddenly are lying next to you, on top of you, between your legs and right on the spot where you wanna stretch your leg. Oh, I am feeling loved..but also a bit cramped!
Let's just hope they plan on taking a break of partying hard tonight, so I can get some shut-eye, or someone is going to be cranky tomorrow *grin*
Wow, it has been a while. Unfortunately it has been so busy, that I ended up not having the energy to write. I've had my own business to run, a house to look for, problems to solve and I've been ill. But back to the kittens. So what is the status these days?
Well, we still have 6 kitties running around. Fey has grown up to be a gorgeous kitty, as I knew she would. She still hasn't fully gotten accustomed to human company though. She is bigger and bolder these days, climbing up window sills and trying to steal Arwen's food on a daily basis. But walk into a room, stare too long at her, or startle her, and she is somewhere under a table all of a sudden. I have been told that this can take very long though, and will never fully fade. Still, I remain hopeful :)
Furthermore all kittens have had their annual check up and Falk finally received his chip. He is officially part of the family these days. Only our Fey doesn't have one yet. Everyone got a clear bill of health, much to my relief. Fey and Falk are so cute these days, they hog the bed as no other couple could and like like they've been married for years *grin*
Trinity is more open and cuddly these days, up to the point where it becomes a problem. Daily, me and my boyfriend are mobbed by no less than four kittens. Prinny is always the first to come over and claim part of the couch, and of course then Lulu feels she needs to be there too. As if that aint bad enough, our Arwen and Trini also feel like the couch is the place to be, especially when we are in it. I've told my boyfriend repeatedly that we need an extra couch and we are actually saving up for one coz this is getting out of hand *LOL*
Ok, I admit, it had been a loooong time since I've posted anything other than a blog, so here it is: a new article for all of you who are considering getting a kitten.
I recently learned this in my new course and found it incredibly interesting. And this knowledge can save you a lot of grief, so enjoy ;)
We are getting somewhere..every so slowely. Nowadays, Fey-Fey already doesn't wake me up anymore at 6, but at 8 or 9...I can live with that. And, this morning she was hungry enough to not be scared away by my presence. In fact, she let me pet her and even lift her up to put her at another foodbowl (she was pushing her luck with Trini) near her beloved Falkie. The only reason I got away with that though was because I was actually almost sitting on the floor myself. Standing is still a big no no and walking an even bigger no no.
But I am finding her on scratching posts instead of underneath and in stuff. She still does that, crawl under the bed and in the closet, but she is getting more assertive. She is a regular customer in the living now, and spends most of the time at the food bowl, water fountain or underneath the livingroom coffee table. However, I am noticing slight changes there too. She dares to run around now. Only the couch is being avoided since I usually sit there (my boyfriend is on a business trip btw).
Yesterday, I put up the christmas tree. I do one every year, but I take a small one, since we have an appartment. I'd already bought it two days ago, but let them get used to it without decoration first. However, once I took out the christmas decoration, it was on. All cats were going wild on it, and even Fey ventured a sniff.
I lifted the tree on a little side table we have, and decorated it with lights. All cats, including Fey took their turn jumping up there and sniffing the bright thing in the corner. Then, I put in the rest of the decoration. For the rest of the night, the tree was being sniffed, and not in the least by our Fey. She jumped up on the table, sniffed the ornaments, the tree itself and even contemplated jumping onto the window sill (which is very close by). She eventually decided to take up residence underneath the table with the christmas tree :)
