Luna....the bane of Prinnies existence. If ever there was a kitten from hell, it would be her. But she is mine, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Luna is the type of cat that will get into the biggest trouble possible, then look at you, twist herself in the weirdest of knots, so you cannot possibly be mad at her. However, if you do not like having grey hair, then do not get a kitten like Lulu.
She has the most incredible shiny black coat, and two fiery yellow eyes to go with it. It is like having a Bonsai Panther (description curtesy of a friend of ours...) in the house. The build of her nose and head is very much like a panther. And trust me; even her personality makes you unsure about whether or not you didn’t accidentally adopt some kind of dwarfpanther-thing.
She is very playful, incredibly intuitive, annoyingly smart and frustratingly cute. She was the baby of the family, until Arwen and Falcor joined the colony. And she abused her position plenty. She will chase everyone in her path, preferably pouncing at them out of the blue. She will steal Prinnies favorite sleeping spots and even tease her so much when Prinny is occupying a spot she wants, that Prinny will just leave to go find a more quiet spot. And then of course Luna will claim her spot immediately for herself, to later on repeat the same process.
And then at night, she will join you in the couch, lying on the back of the couch, crawling all over it, para commando-style. After her naps, it is a delight to see her pull herself with her front paws all over the carpet, just to get a good stretch. And any toy is a feast for her. Her biggest enemy (besides the Prinny): boredom. This cat needs constant stimulation, new things to explore, and is always up for a challenge. And when she is played out, she will come over, curl her tail to ask for attention, chirp and join you to lie in your arms and fall asleep. Now how do you stay mad at that? This kitten just makes the most out of life. Can you really blame her for that?
After the coming of the (real) kittens, she calmed down though. She was suddenly the one being chased. Since she was the go-go cat of the family, she was drawing a lot of attention to herself. She learnt quickly to stay quiet when the kittens were racing through the house. She also needed the most time to get used to them. Being the baby of the family was a position she had enjoyed thoroughly and suddenly it was taken away from her.
She does still bounce of the walls occasionally but since there is so much action already going on, she doesn’t really need to relieve that much boredom anymore, or so it seems. The best thing is that this also means she doesn’t get in trouble as much anymore with the matriarch of the family, our Prinny. Lulu has learnt how to be an aunt and grown up a lot during the process.
I hope she never loses her zest for life because she is a true inspiration on that front, and although she remains a handful on occasion, I have always enjoyed a challenge. Now if only I could get Prinny to see it that way.
